In what ways can your chosen resourse be utilized by your future stuents for the purposes of demonstrating the four dimensions of literacy skills?

The book that I looked into was Teaching Literacy through the Arts by Nan L. McDonald and Douglas Fisherman. It contains a wealth of activities and concepts through music. I feel that this book can be applied to the four dimensions of literacy.

First there is music in the book, so that can serve as texts. A good way to integrate this in the classroom is to have a discussion with the students on what the song means to them, or what the words mean to them. That can also play a part in literacy skills. By asking the students what this song means to them or to come up with a story to a song that has no words, I believe that can help them with literacy skills. Third, the multiliteracy’s I think is the easiest in the music field. There is singing, listening, reading, writing activities in the book that all have to do with literacy and music. Writing can be taught in asking students to come up with lyrics to a song, or to even write their own piece of music. In the fourth one collective social practice, I also believe it is an easy for a music classroom there are so many activities students can do in a social setting, such as singing a song, or writing their own song.

Overall I believe this would be a great book to encourage and incorporate music and literacy into the classroom.
